We attended what is called Spring Prelude at the Butchart Gardens, a popular tourist attraction in our hometown, Victoria, BC, Canada
This is where staff at the Gardens empties what is normally the Blue Poppy restaurant of all tables and chairs. They then bring in loads of soil, mulch and rocks to create garden beds. They also setup a water feature with a large pond, waterfall and a bridge.
Then come the plants. Some are in beautiful containers and some are planted in the garden beds. There are even large trees.
The colour is amazing, but overall the effect is an indoor garden that is designed to attract visitors when the outside gardens are still bare with few flowers. But it is also designed to give a taste of what can be expected in a month or two in the outside gardens.
I took some photos and stitched them into a short movie for your viewing pleasure. Hopefully it will provide inspiration for you to create your own tranquil garden and get some ideas of what you can do. Likely you won’t be able to do this indoors if you don’t have the space!
