Do you Want to Improve your Garden or Balcony to make it a more inviting place to spend time in?
What is the state of your current garden or balcony? Is it a place you feel comfortable spending quality time in?
Or do you dread going outside because it reminds you of the things you have neglected?
You live a very busy, stressful life with many demands on your time.
Gardening is likely low on your priority list of tasks and it doesn’t have a spot in your busy schedule.
However with some inspiration and motivation, some planning and a few simple tips and techniques, you too can create a tranquil retreat that will take you away from the stresses of your life.
I am your guide and will show you how.
What is a "Tranquil Garden"?
Something that is “tranquil” means that it imparts a sense of peace, calm and relaxation. A tranquil garden therefore should be a place that you are happy to come home to, a place that you can escape to from the stresses of work and life, and a place to provide a healthy environment for your family.
Tranquil Garden is a gardening website unlike most other gardening websites. While those other sites may teach you the mechanics of growing your own vegetables or pruning your trees, Tranquil Garden takes it a step further to make those practical tasks have a more lasting impact on your well-being and that of your family.
You will find inspiration, motivation, tips and techniques to improve your garden one simple step at a time. And without getting overwhelmed.

Hi, my name is Marc.
I am an immigrant from Germany (many, many years ago) that lives in the “Garden City” of Victoria, BC, Canada. I have been actively gardening for over 15 years, growing many vegetables, fruit and flowers.
I started off trying to garden on a patio at my first apartment I rented. When I bought my first house, I finally had an actual garden and started growing my own vegetables, fruit and flowers successfully.
A few years later when my wife and I decided to move, the unique selling point of our current house was an extensive vegetable garden, greenhouse and established fruit “orchard”. We fell in love with the place and have worked on and off making small improvements. Life got very busy with the birth of our daughter in 2013 and some parts of the garden didn’t get much attention.
At the start of 2017, I finally had time to focus on my garden’s aesthetics more and built new cedar raised vegetable beds and compost. I put more effort into growing vegetables and we had the best year ever, eating lots of produce from our garden.
But there was one more thing that I had dreamed of doing…
Tranquil Garden - the Website
In the spring of 2017, I decided to share my passion for gardening with others and started this website.
When I needed to change my email address several years ago, firstname.lastname@example.org happened to be available through my email provider. So I grabbed it and started using it.
After my wife and I read the book Hero by Rhonda Byrne in early 2017, I decided that I need to follow my true calling and start sharing my gardening passion with others. In early May I checked and the domain tranquilgarden.ca was available! I purchased it and setup the blog.
I’ve been working hard on writing content despite having a fulltime job, a family with a young daughter and a garden that is undergoing it’s own transformation into a more tranquil garden. My content aims to inspire, give practical tips on simplifying “work” in the garden and improve the health of you and your family through your garden.
I also current have several eBook ideas that will expand on the ideas presented on the blog. I have just recently published the Tranquil Garden eBook that expands on the 21 ideas in the free guide mentioned above. The eBook covers in depth 25 simple ideas on how to create and enjoy your tranquil garden.
Contact me if you have any feedback, suggestions for content or just want to say “hi!”. I love to talk about gardening!
